October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Launched in 2003 as a collaborative effort between the National Cyber Security Alliance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) promotes awareness of the importance of cybersecurity vigilance. Still going strong today, this alliance between government and industry provides resources organizations can use to do their part in making the internet safer and more secure for all Americans.

This year, NCSAM focuses on personal accountability and stresses the importance of proactively enhancing cybersecurity at home and in the workplace. NSCAM 2019 emphasizes citizen privacy, consumer devices, and e-commerce security, while highlighting three overarching themes: Own IT, Secure IT, and Protect IT. You can download the NCSAM 2019 Toolkit from the Department of Homeland Security web site. The Toolkit outlines the themes and key messages of NCSAM 2109, offers tips for engaging your employees in awareness activities, and provides a host of resources for promoting positive cybersecurity habits across your organization.
