Kevin Mayo, Director of Cybersecurity & Solutions Architect at Cerium, kicks off our seven-part video series on the national Institute of technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework (CSF). This series of short videos will help you understand the NIST CSF and why it is such a valuable standard and guideline — all in under 20 minutes of your time.
The NIST CSF, which has been around since 2014, and got an update to version 1.1 in 2018, provides a policy framework for private sector organizations in the United States to assess and improve their ability to identify, protect, detect, respond to, and recover from cybersecurity threats. Unlike the bigger ISO and NIST 800-53 standards that have more than 300 controls to measure a program by, the CSF accomplishes the same things with the much easier to manage 100 controls.
