It’s sometimes said that hyper-converged is for small deployments only and that it doesn’t scale well. But according to Ray, that’s not true! VxRail can scale anywhere from two, up to 64 nodes in a single cluster. In addition, you can expand those clusters and through many failover domains and management domains—then manage them all through one user interface. Hyperconverged Infrastructure is absolutely scalable.

In fact, hyper-converged is a scale-up architecture. That means the more resources you add to it (aka, more nodes, more memory, more drives), the better performance, dedupe and compression rations a cluster will have.

About This Series

As today’s data centers shift toward modernization, a number of misconceptions about data center technologies have emerged. In this series, Cerium’s data center experts, Ray Hall and Gregg Pruett, separate fact from fiction and debunk some of the most widespread myths surrounding backup and recovery, cloud, hyper-converged infrastructure, storage and more.
